So, how did you first get started in the hair industry?
I used to always cut my sister’s hair to my mum’s horror, (there were some good bowl cuts getting around) but to be honest just I wanted to leave high school and Mum said the only way I was allowed to leave was if I got a trade. So I did! And that’s how my career really started as a hairdresser.

Tell us about the Maverick experience?
Maverick is an environment that we’ve created - a relaxed friendly vibe with good tunes and lots of laughs. It’s a place you can come get pampered and be inspired. We

What attracted you to Maverick’s Salon?
This is going to sound a little funny, but there was a specific colour brand that I wanted to work with, and Maverick happened to stock it. Not to mention the incredible vibe of the salon - walking in on my first day was really exciting. With so much art around me, and a really cool team, I was instantly inspired.

And tell us about your team of 9 stylists?
Maverick stands for ‘being an individual, all of our stylists are completely unique, there’s such a big diverse range of talent within our team.

Who are some of your major hair inspirations, either clientele or fellow stylists?
I pull all of my inspiration from some of the big names salons located in Adelaide, LA, Canada and London.

In the 90’s we had Jen Anniston, some questionable styles after that and balayage has certainly been a much sought after look over the last few years, what is the latest trend?

I have been seeing a lot of the ash toned brunette balayage coming through. A lot more of freehand painting, what I would call your traditional balayage. Blondes are always on-trend, I do love a good blonde - especially the summer honey blondes, creamy blondes and multidimensional blondes.

What are your plans for the Maverick space evolving?
Maverick has such a special and diverse space I want to really focus on getting the brand as well as the space out there within the hairdressing community as well as in our local community. One day to be the IT salon for the Gold Coast but with a completely different vibe to any other salon here.
